BYO RunPod

Bring your own RunPod account and run jobs on your own GPU fleet.

How it works

By default, Volspan runs your code on our managed RunPod fleet and bills per second from your Vault. With BYO RunPod, you connect your own RunPod account. Volspan handles orchestration, artifact storage, and monitoring — RunPod bills you directly for GPU time.

Benefits

  • Your own fleet. Use reserved instances or spot pricing from your RunPod account.
  • Volume discounts. RunPod offers discounted rates for high-volume accounts. You keep those savings.
  • No Vault charges for GPU time. Your Vault is only used for Volspan platform fees (orchestration, storage, monitoring).
  • Same developer experience. MCP tools, dashboard, artifact URLs — everything works identically.

Setup

1. Get your RunPod API key

Go to runpod.io/console/user/settings and create an API key with Serverless permissions.

2. Add it to Volspan

In your Volspan dashboard, go to Settings → Integrations → RunPod and paste your API key. We encrypt it at rest with AES-256.

3. Deploy the Volspan handler

We'll automatically deploy the Volspan handler template to your RunPod account as a serverless endpoint. This takes ~60 seconds.

4. Select “BYO” mode per agent

In agent settings, toggle the compute source to “Your RunPod”. You can mix and match — some agents on managed, others on BYO.

Pricing with BYO

When using BYO RunPod, Volspan charges a flat $0.002/second platform fee for orchestration, R2 storage, and monitoring. GPU compute is billed directly by RunPod to your account.
